Maverick Munchies Year End Wrap Up

It is hard to believe the 2016-2017 year is coming to an end. I am so grateful that I got to be a part of opening William D Pratt and implement a small servery for the school. Next year we hope to expand the menu choices for the students and provide more hot lunch options. With the year coming to an end please know that the supplies in Maverick Munchies are started to get depleted. There will be minimal items this week and most prices will be reduced to try and clear out most of the stock. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday [...]

Principal's Message

Year End

It has been a terrific first year.  Thank you for welcoming our staff into your communities to work with your kids.  We have had a very successful year in many different ways, and I want to acknowledge the hard work of my entire staff for creating amazing learning and life opportunities.  They put in an incredible number of hours to create the conditions for student success.
Our School Council and Fundraising Parent Society have given us a partnership full of excitement and solid feedback to bring context to the school.  We cherish the strong relationship we have started and we look forward to greater things together.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to CBE Area 1 Director Brant Parker and his staff as well as other CBE staff across the organization for helping us with much of the heavy lifting as we opened the school for the first time.  We were able to focus our main work on our teaching and learning core while they helped us to navigate many of the other pieces of the puzzle.
Thank you as well to MLA Sandra Jansen, City Councillor Ward Sutherland, City Councillor Joe Magliocca, RRROCA President Tessa Sakamoto, as well as Board of Trustee Chair Joy Bowen-Eyre and their staffs for their unwavering support and background work to allow this school to open this year. We can all agree that this school is a necessary and important part of this neighborhood.
It is also important for me to thank Bill Pratt’s widow Milli, their daughter Marylyn Pelletier and the rest of the Pratt family for being involved meaningfully during our first year of operation. Besides their contributions of memorabilia from Bill’s personal collection, they have been there to remind us what it means to be a Maverick. They have also been there to congratulate us throughout the year during each of our celebrations. They have been so generous, and I feel like I am part of their family.  We love you guys!
Finally, thank you so much to our students. You have made this school the place it is today. We are so proud that we could plan and prepare quality learning opportunities and challenges for you.  You have risen to the tasks and have taken one more step towards a successful future. Parents and guardians, be proud of your children, for they have demonstrated all of the character traits, citizenship qualities, and intellectual talents we were striving for with them.
Have a great summer break!  We look forward to continuing our work together next year to make William D. Pratt even better!  GO MAVS!
