One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the School Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

The William Reid School Council is made up of parents of students enrolled in William Reid School, school administration and teachers. WRSC advises the principal and CBE on school related matters and participates in system wide communication activities through the key Communicators. Its mission is to foster a positive and productive school community that enhances learning.

Being part of WRSC is as easy as attending a meeting. We also need willing participants to be part of the executive.

Meeting Dates/Schedule

New for this year, our society and school council meetings will alternate each month between the second Tuesday at 7:00 PM and second Thursday at 8:15 AM of each month. William Reid School Fundraising Society meetings are first with Council meetings starting immediately after. Evening meetings are held in the school gymnasium and morning meetings are held in the staff lunchroom. Babysitting is not provided. Check our Calendar page for exact dates.
