Dear Families,

The following are the updates in our different classes for the next two weeks:

In Social Studies, we will begin watching the CBC historical series about the history of Canada called “The Story of Us”. In each episode, we’ll discuss and analyze the main events, considering its impact in our current historical context.

In English class, students will learn how to write opinion papers, many of them contextualized in the in the historical series “The Story of Us”. In addition to that, we are preparing for our poetry workshop with spoken word artist Miranda Krogstad coming up at the end of the month. Miranda's website: https://www.mirandakrogstad.co...

In Math class, students will continue working in patterns and equations. In this unit students are learning to transform numerical patterns into written patterns and finally into equations. Over the last month, we have challenged ourselves and have been even dabbling into grade 10 math equations. Ask your son or daughter for the class notes on this subject.

In Spanish class, we are working with the verb “gustar” and focusing on acquiring vocabulary about the parts of the city. Students begin each new concept focusing first in oral skills and then moving into reading and writing.

In Science, students will be making crystals and will learn about the chemical and physical connections that make crystals grow.
