COVID-19 Notices

January 24, 2021

To Our Acadia Families,

I am attaching a letter from AHS advising families that Acadia School has been placed on an Alert Status as there have been two confirmed positive cases of Covid-19 cases within the past 14 days.  You can access the AHS letter under resources to the right side of this page.  Please note that AHS states: " the risk of the general population in the school becoming infected because of these cases is low".  In the chance that your child does develop Covid symptoms, please keep them home and when using the AHS online test booking system, please use the Acadia School case number 2021-740.

I would like to re-assure parents by stating that I spoke to an AHS inspector last week, after we announced our first positive case of 2021, to review our Covid protocols.  The inspector that I spoke to commended our school for all we are doing to keep our staff and students safe during this difficult time.  We will continue to ensure that our students and staff are following all safety protocols while at Acadia School.

Please take care and feel free to reply to this email if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Lisa Bartel

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We have been notified by Alberta Health Services (AHS) that a case of COVID-19 has been diagnosed in an individual from Acadia school.

Our school remains open to in-person learning for all students, and we are working closely with AHS to ensure necessary measures continue to be in place to protect all staff and students. This includes the cleaning and disinfecting of all items touched by the individual, and the removal and storage of all items that cannot be cleaned and disinfected (paper, books, etc.) in a sealed container for a minimum of 72 hours.

The school has already contacted each family or staff member affected by the positive case, and AHS will be following up only with those individuals. If you were not contacted, your child(ren) are not affected by the positive case.

All students directed to quarantine by AHS will be supported in maintaining course work during the designated period through Google Classroom. They will not join Hub online learning.

We remind parents/guardians of students, as well as any staff/visitors/volunteers to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.The Alberta Health daily checklist can be found here. Please remember to complete the checklist each day prior to attending school.

Take care,

Lisa Bartel Principal
