Dear AFS families,

WOW! A month has flown by, and what an amazing month it has been. The family at AFS is a strong and welcoming one, thank you for including me in your child's educational family.

On Tuesday Tianna and I had the opportunity to meet with some parents online for coffee and conversation. It was wonderful to be able to sit down with family members and engage in open conversation. I learned so much, and was also able to answer some questions. Kindergarten and grade 1 parents were wondering about where the washrooms as well as lost and found were located within the school, while grade 5 and 6 parents were wondering where we are in planning for skiing and/or camping trips this year. There continue to be so many questions that, in a non-covid impacted year, would have been answered while parents were in the building for conferences, assemblies, and regular meetings. Thank you to those parents who were able to make time to meet this week. We plan to have more meeting times, please watch the website for the December time. We hope to welcome even more parents then.

Further to that meeting, we have been able to locate the video that was created for kindergarten parents last year. This provides a small insight into the school, and has a greeting from Ms. Puglia, last year's kindergarten teacher. This year we have welcomed Ms. Weber to our kindergarten classroom, she's not in the video, but she is in the classroom everyday teaching our youngest learners. You'll find the video posted on the website sometime this weekend.

This coming Wednesday, all students will be participating in our Remembrance Day Assembly. Kindergarten students are not here in the mornings and as such will watch the video portion in the afternoon, all other students will follow the provincial mandates and participate in the morning, with the one minute of silence observed at 11am. We look forward to having a reflective week.

We hope you all have an opportunity to take a look at the Fundscrip this weekend, you'll find the links on the website for purchasing through this program to support school council and AFS students. Use your extra hour well, as the clocks fall back this weekend!
Have a great weekend.

Your AFS leadership team,
Helen Sharpe and Tianna Melnyk
