PRCs - do you have one? Do you know what they are?
Police Record Clearances (PRCs) are one requirement that all volunteers must meet in order to come into the school during regular school hours. As we gain clarity on other expectations, and begin to once again be able to participate in off site field trips we are hoping that we can engage more of our kindergarten/grade 1 and 2 parents in the PRC process. Without clearance we cannot allow parent volunteers into the school for field trips, fun lunch, class assistance, etc.
So, what do you need to do? Paula (Ms. Aab) needs to get you set up with a letter from CBE. In order to generate this letter she needs to see your ID. Please email her: email@example.com to find a time that works for both you and her to come in and get the process started. Once you have the letter you will need some time to complete the application process online. Once the application has been reviewed by the Calgary Police Service you are then notified and need to share the results with the CBE. It's all done electronically now, and the cost is covered by the CBE.
We are hoping that we will have a number of volunteers in the building during the last week of school, to assist in organizing the holiday giving donations, facilitate a holiday craft in our younger grades, and even help with some thematic decorating. There is still time to complete the PRC process prior to that last week of school, if you get started right away!
Thank you for your consideration and continued support.
Your AFS leadership team,
Helen Sharpe and Tianna Melnyk
