Thank you to all the parents who were able to find time to join our school council and parent society meetings this week. There was great conversation, questions, and learning! We always appreciate opportunities to get to know and interact with our parent community. Thanks also to Ms. Degner for her informative presentation about how she is bringing writing alive in her classroom using Adrienne’s Gear Writing Power resource. Grade 5s and 6s have been focusing on making their writing interesting and clear. Ask them to tell you about something they have written, there are some AMAZING writers in our school.

Please note: If you don’t receive the weekly message this week (Nov 26) you need to click on the link below and agree to accept commercial messages from AFS.  Most communication from School Council/ Parent Society is commercial as it includes fundraising initiatives. In recent weeks we have been sharing information about such things as Healthy Hunger, Fundscrip, Donut orders, picture orders, and our holiday giving campaign...we don’t want you to be missing out on information because you haven’t signed up for commercial messages. You need to sign up to receive messages with the same account that is attached to your child in powerschool for the system to work! Thank you.
Thanks to all parents who contributed to the delicious pot luck for teaching staff on Thursday evening, it is greatly appreciated. We also enjoyed meeting with most parents over the past two days. For those of you that we weren’t able to connect with, we hope to be able to do so in the near future. Please reach out to your child’s teacher to find a time that will work to meet.
Have a safe weekend.
Your AFS leadership team,
Helen Sharpe and Tianna Melnyk
