Hard to believe it is December already!  There is lots of learning happening in our school this month leading up to the Winter Break. 
Winter Gift Shop and Clothing Exchange  
Our students are planning for an opportunity for everyone do some "shopping" for clothes and gifts.  We are looking for donations of slightly loved items you think someone else will love.  Anything from clothes, trinkets/decor, books & games to toys. Please, no stuffies, pillows or bedding. 
Items need to be clean, in good condition, and appropriate for school. There is a need for warm winter gear in particular.
Items can be dropped at the school Dec. 1-7.  The market will run Dec. 11-14 during lunches and after school. There is no cost to shop, but if students would like to "pay what they can", all proceeds will go towards the TransCloset Project - a gender affirming collection of clothing that will be available to students who need it. 
Forensics Career Experiences
Janine's Forensics class will have a visit from a Fire Investigations Officer and a Fire Investigations Dog!  Any students who have allergies or aversions to dogs will be offered to be released from class during the visit.  In addition, Janine and her students will be exploring how fire spreads using models they will build in class. 
School Plant Fundraiser
Our plants will arrive on Friday.  Those families who ordered plants will receive an email with information about pick up.  As Friday is a non-instructional day, families can arrange to pick up on Monday, Dec. 11 after school. 
Second Semester Planning
Mentors will be reviewing credit planners and second semester timetables with students considering current course marks.  Students who need a grade 12 online course to graduate should let Jen know this week as CBelearn is opening registration this week for second semester online courses to grade 12s who needs a course to graduate only. Mentors will also be doing grad checks and any grade 12s who are not on track to graduate because of current course grades may be removed from the grad list until they are back on track.
