Learning Commons at the CBE

Today’s learners cannot imagine life without the internet and supporting technology. The concept of the traditional library is changing to include technology, online tools and spaces for collaboration and exploration.

Our Learning Commons

Hours

The Learning Commons is open from 7:45 AM to 2:35 PM daily except Fridays when it is open from 7:45 AM to 12:05 PM. In this facility students have access to a variety of materials for research, study and general interest. The collection includes a wide range of: fiction with a growing number of graphic novels, dual language books, print encyclopedias, video and DVD programs, periodicals and a substantial reference collection.

Learning Materials

We are pleased to offer electronic reference titles that can be accessed from any computer in the school as well as from home. Combined with access to Alberta Education's On-line Reference Centre, students now have a large array of materials at their fingertips to help with assignments and research in all courses.

Borrowing

Students are welcome to borrow Learning Commons books, two at a time. Learning Commons books that are damaged or lost will need to be replaced. It is imperative that families that are unable to pay for lost books instill in their child the need to safe keep the books loaned to the child. The school cannot afford to absorb the cost of lost books so all families will have to find a way to pay for lost books.
