Meet the Teacher Learning Conferences
On September 24 and 25 we have scheduled our “Meet the Teacher Learning Conferences.” The intention behind this first round of conferences is to allow the teacher to get to know your child better. Teachers will be engaging you in conversation about how your child learns, academic strengths and areas for growth. Rather than discuss academic progress, this conference is designed to help school staff understand more about your child’s learning preferences, needs, and interests.
Due to Covid protocols, we cannot hold Learning Conferences in person. Meet the Teacher Learning Conferences will be conducted over the phone. When you book your conference time, please be sure to include your preferred phone number in the “School Note” section when you book your interview. Teachers will use that number to phone you at your scheduled time.
Meet the Teacher conferences are:
Sept 4, 4:45-8:15 and
Sept 5, 9:00-12:00
Grade 1-6 - School for students in grade 1-6 will continue with our regular times on Thursday, but there is no school for students on Friday.
Kindergarten - For Kindergarten there is no school for students on Thursday and no school on Friday.
To reserve your conference, please navigate to our school website and click on “Power School” at the bottom of the page. If you have not yet created your access to Powerschool, it is important to do so now. This allows you to book conferences, pay fees and view your child’s report card. Please consult the Help documents on Powerschool if required.
Finally, if you have any trouble accessing Power School and My School Conferences, please phone the office after 8:00am, Monday, Sept 21 to reserve your conference time on the phone (403-777-7187).
When booking your conference time, please select your child’s teacher’s name to see available times.
Parent Viewpoint Forms
Your child’s teacher will be sending home a Parent Viewpoint for (either hard copy or a digital form) next week. This form gives us an idea of who your child is and offers an entry point for the Meet the Teacher Learning conferences. Please submit these forms asap so your teacher can have them ready for your conferences.
Demographic Forms
These forms will be sent home with your child next week. We ask you to update any changes to address, phone number, etc. and send the form back with your child. Please remember to sign the last page of the demographic form.
Change of Lunch Times
We’ve made some recent adjustments to our timetable since our school was re-organized. Effective Monday, September 24 our new lunch times are as follows:
Gr 1, 3, and 5 – 11:30-12:20
Gr 2, 4, and 6 – 12:30-1:20
Students are still required to eat in their classroom and play outside with their cohort within their assigned area.
Change of Date for School Council Meeting
Due to an oversight, we scheduled our first School Council meeting on the same night as our Meet the Teacher Learning Conferences. As such, we will change our School Council meeting to Sept 29, 6:00-8:00. An agenda and Microsoft Teams link will be sent to your email box on Monday. In order to join our meeting, you are asked to download Microsoft Teams on your device.
Kind Regards
J. Campbell
