Year-End Message

Dear Parents / Guardians,

With the end of June fast approaching and summer holidays on the horizon, we send this information to our families to ensure you are aware of some information regarding year-end as well as Sept 1.

Digital report cards are now available and can be accessed through Powerschool.  Through these report cards, teachers have reported your student's progress in relation to their Alberta Education Programs of Studies outcomes.  Powerschool can be accessed from the Battalion Park School main home webpage or by clicking here.  If you need support/assistance in accessing your Powerschool account, help documents are embedded on this site or please call our office.

We have announced the retirements of Ms. Zollner, Mrs. Henderson, Mrs. Croteau and Mr. Campbell.  Along with these retirements, Mrs. McKenzie Cornwall and Mr. Gaukel are moving to other positions and schools within CBE.   Today, we were also notified that one of our long-time cherished teachers, Ms. Mottershead, was successful in her application to become a new teacher at Children's Village School!  Also departing from our school staff are Ms. Amy Brooks and Ms. Ashley Irvine, who have been working as Temporary Education Assistants in our school this year.  Finally our thanks to Mrs. Donna Eccleston who has been doing an amazing job as a Facility Cleaner in the Mini and Core buildings.  We are grateful to all of those staff members who have helped make our school a better place for our students – we are a because of you.  We had initially said good-bye to Ms. Sienna Moren, our Kindergarten teacher, but just today we were informed that Ms. Moren can stay at Battalion Park School next year!  Congratulations to Ms. Moren!

Our last day for students this year is Tuesday, June 29.  Classes resume on September 1.  Our Back to School document is posted on our school website (Under Registration).  Within this document, our school hours, calendar and other start up information is included.  Please note that our school times have not changed significantly.  Next year we will resume our “soft entry" time, however the soft entry will start 5 minutes later (8:40).  School classes start at 8:53.  Two lunch times will be provided.  Grade 1-4 will have lunch at 11:30-12:14.  Grade 5-6 will have lunch at 12:30-1:14.  Monday to Thursday, classes will be dismissed at 3:40 and on Friday classes are dismissed at 12:30.

We are hopeful that at some point our current COVID19 Safety protocols will be relaxed.  At this point we anticipate that September 1 will involve Safety Protocols that are very similar to our current practices.  Once more direction is provided by Alberta Health Services and Alberta Education, we will provide families with further updates.

2020-21 has been a school year for the record books.  We are so grateful to have had such wonderful students and parents with which to work and we hope to return to our more regular events next year.  From our family to yours, please have a safe and happy holiday.

Sincerely,
