Staff is already in preparing for school and students’ arrival. We are excited to have your family back joining us for another exciting school year. First day of school for students is a full day on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. We request that students bring a backpack, indoor shoes, and their lunch if they are staying as part of lunch program. No other school supplies are necessary. Please see the webpage information if you wish to register your child for lunchroom and have not done so. If your child does not have a backpack, please let us know, and we will see how we can support you.
School begins at 8:00 a.m. and dismissal will be at 2:30 for Grade 1 to Grade 6. This year, we will begin the year with unspecified recess and teachers will be bringing their students out for break at various times throughout the morning. If you have registered for Kindergarten, you should have received information regarding staggered entry times for your child’s attendance for the first week. Contact us if you have any questions or require this information.
If your child is in Grade 1 to Grade 6, you will be receiving an email by the afternoon of August 28th informing you of your child’s teacher. If you wish to discuss any concerns over your child’s placement, we ask that you try to contact us before the first day of school on September 3rd. If you have not received a message by late August 28th, we ask that you contact the school this week and we will place your child with a teacher before school begins. Your child’s teacher will be holding a sign displaying their name on the playground after 7:45 am on September 3rd. We ask that you drop your child off with the teacher and they will escort them into the building at bell time 8:00 a.m. Please let you child’s teacher know if you will, or will not be picking your child up at dismissal, and if they are staying at school for lunch.
Your child will be bringing home a student information package next week which will contain information for you as well as a number of forms to assist us with ensuring your child’s success. We request that your return these to us as soon as possible.
Yellow School Bus
Yellow school bus routes for the 2019-20 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in May. While CBE Transportation continues to accept pre-registrations, these will not be considered until route changes are done after Thanksgiving.

In October, a confirmation email will be sent to all parents/guardians who have submitted a pre-registration, if the parent/guardian has subscribed to receive messages. It will include transportation fee information (if applicable) and payment options (if applicable). Families can cancel their pre-registration with no financial penalty using MyCBE / PowerSchool by Oct. 31, 2019.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.
Our lunchroom is CBE operated with all supervisors employed by the Board under the supervision of the Principal. The lunchroom is open to all students who have registered and paid lunchroom fees. Tax receipts are issued in January and June for full-time registrants.
Additionally, we have children at our school who are allergic to nuts and related nut products, we are an Allergy Aware School, and strongly encourage families to avoid sending nut product to school. Parents must indicate any special health concerns on the school registration for their child and are encouraged to ensure classroom teachers are also aware of health issues. Please note that we have moved away from multi-age classrooms for the 2019/2020 school year. All classes will be single grade. Grade 6 will begin the year with three classrooms in the morning for core subjects and two classes in the afternoon. This configuration may change depending on enrollment in September.
