Principal's Message

Spring Smiles!

Good day Belvedere Parkway families!
We have had a turbulent few months but it is certainly feeling like the weather and hopefully everything else is looking up as we head into our break!
We would like to thank everyone for being so supportive of school fund raisers, traffic initiatives, sharing feedback on our survey and to our School Council and fund raising committee for all their work in creating and following through on ideas to keep our community upbeat and resilient!
April, May and June should bring sunshine and more outdoor activities to our lives again and help embrace and support student learning in a positive and energizing way.
We have our new picnic tables, Buddy benches, Three Pointer basketball hoops and newly painted compound games to look forward to as they should be installed soon. We are also looking forward to the planting and nurturing of our Learning Gardens and rebuilding of our Bee Hotels.
Please tune in to our School Council meeting in April as we share feedback from the community about French and Straight Grades next year!
Please note below the friendly reminders from our website regarding School Policy about masks, headwear and toys to school as per below. While we are hopeful and positive about the coming months, we are also cognizant of the need to continue precautions and protocols to keep our students safe in school and we do appreciate your support in this.
Masks: Please ensure that the appropriate masks are brought and worn at school – scarves or pull up 'snood' type masks or clear plastic face coverings are not permitted.
Headwear (caps, toques, hoodies, headbands)
We are requesting that students do not wear headwear inside the school for the following reasons:
Communication: When students are wearing caps, toques or have hoods, it is difficult for teachers to see their student's faces to see their reaction to feedback or as part of communication with a student. Communication and feedback are essential for learning.
Hygiene and safety: At this time in particular (Covid) hats and caps are accessories that we only wish for owners to handle. While they may wear hats etc. outside, please ask your child to make sure they do not share hats or handle others' headwear. These items must go straight in their backpacks once re-entering the school building. If students are asked to remove their hats inside they are expected to do so respectfully.
Function: Fancy headbands (cat ears, unicorn horns, etc.) may become toys in classrooms, as well as items students 'share'. Please ensure headbands are functional, i.e. keeping hair out of students' eyes.
Respect: Headwear is not allowed during any group event where the national anthem will be sung, e.g., Assemblies.
Toys & Electronic Items
At this time in particular (Covid) toys, handheld electronic games, apple watches, jewelry, etc. should not be brought to school. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen items. If there is an educational reason why such an item should be brought to school, please discuss this with your child's teacher.
Please refer to the School website for School Policy and information.

From all of us to all of you, we wish you have a restful week and that you have the opportunity to take a breath, relax and have some downtime with your family.
We look forward to seeing all our students healthy and well on Tuesday, April 6.
Best wishes,
Jane Gibson
