Hello BelPark Families,
We have had a beautiful Fall and now it is looking like we are welcoming Winter in with warm clothing and hot cocoa!
Students were excited for Halloween and by all accounts had a wonderful time out there on Monday evening. We enjoyed a fabulous conga line to show off all their fun costumes:) Mrs. Bremner gave out prizes for our Pumpkin contest too which was well-received and everyone loved the extremely creative entries. They were all amazing and put a crooked smile on everyone’s faces!
We would like to say a big thank you for the Teacher appreciation and parent goodies that were in our staff room on Tuesday morning, it was a lovely and welcome treat! We were also thankful to parent volunteers for tidying and sorting all of our Lost and Found items, and for donating a brand new clothes rack and clothes hangers to make it easier to see jackets and hoodies that are lost and all alone.
Please do not forget to label your child’s clothing and save yourself extra dollars this year!
We are excited to have the chance to join Paul Davis in his parent presentation on Digital Safety. Please remember you must register in advance (free) to join, as the speaker needs time to accept the registrations. We have heard nothing but outstanding reviews by parents who have attended his sessions in the past. Thank you for hosting and organizing this School Council!
Thank you to all our bussing parents for their patience and resilience in handling the challenges we have all had to face so far this year. All bus companies are having significant issues with staffing, we are not alone and it can be difficult to find alternate solutions.
I would also like to thank all the parents who have supported our efforts in keeping students safe around the South parking lot area. I know drop-of and pick-up can be challenging sometimes, especially when we are running late, but student safety is important to all of us and we need to work together.
We are working with CPS to address the dangers around the crosswalk beside 44th Avenue and 85th Street, and I have placed a request with the City to get the streetlight that is out to be fixed.
It is too dangerous for a Student Crossing Patrol to operate on 85th Street so please encourage your children when using the crosswalks to remember to activate the crossing light and make eye contact with drivers before attempting to cross. With the clocks going back on Saturday there should be more light in the morning, so we are hopeful that will help.
Our Grade 4/5 Choir has been invited to sing at the Field of Crosses on Memorial Drive on November 6. Ms. Draper, our Music Specialist will be sending out a School Messenger with the details for attendance. Anyone who would like to attend are welcome. It is such an honor to have our school and the wider community of Calgary’s young people represented at this ceremony.
