Personal Belongings

The responsibility for items of personal property lies with the individual student. The school cannot assume responsibility for loss or damage. Combination locks are provided for safe storage of personal effects in hall lockers and physical education change rooms. Maintaining the secrecy of lock combinations goes a long way to protecting the security of possessions. Do not share locker combinations!

According to CBE Administrative Regulation 6014 - Student Searches, when there are reasonable grounds, students and their personal belongings may be searched.

Bicycles, Skateboards & Scooters

Bicycle racks are provided in an area adjacent to our parking lot. This area is out of bounds, except when parking or getting bikes. All bikes must be locked. Students are discouraged from bringing expensive bicycles to school. Bicycles secured outside run the risk of being damaged, vandalized or stolen.

The use of skateboards or scooters is not allowed on school premises. Use of Skateboards or scooters is not permitted during lunch break.

Personal Electronic Devices (Cellphones, iPods, Laptops, iPads, etc.)

UPDATED: Personal Electronic Devices [PED] e.g. cellphones, iPods, laptops, iPads, Airpods, etc.

School Telephone for Students

A telephone, located directly across from the main office, is available for student use without charge. Students are asked to be brief with calls as a courtesy to others waiting to use the phone.

UPDATED: Personal Electronic Devices [PED] e.g. cellphones, iPods, laptops, iPads, Airpods, etc.

In response to the successful reduction of distractions posed by PEDs/cell phones to students during the school day, Bishop Pinkham staff have updated and expanded our cell phone and PED policy for the 2019-20 school year.

PEDs/Cell phones devices can only be used outside of school-time unless:

  1. Teachers have requested PEDs be brought to a specific class for a bona fide educational purpose.

  2. Students choose to leave CBE property at lunch to access their device.

Students are still permitted to bring their devices to school but are expected to secure them in their lockers for the duration of the school day unless they meet one of the two exceptions to the policy listed  above.

If a student is found to be in violation of the PEDs/Cell phone policy:

  1. The device will be removed from the student and held in the office for the duration of the day. The student’s device, name, and date will be recorded and the student can retrieve their device at the end of the day.

  2. Following the second infraction the school will inform the student’s family of the infraction.

  3. Following a third infraction the device will only be surrendered to a legal guardian.

When in use, PEDs/cell phones must be used according to the Bishop Pinkham Acceptable Use Policy as shown below.

Additional information about personal cell phone & PED usage:

A personal cell phone or PED are not required for student success at Bishop Pinkham.

Personal cell phones & PED cannot be used during school hours except for during lunch hour provided that the student leaves CBE property.  During class time, without prior arrangement with Principal or teacher, cell phones & PED must be stored in the student’s locker.

Non-compliance with these instructions will result in confiscation of the student’s cell phone or PED.

Emergency Communication Blackout

In the event of an emergency or critical incident, students will follow administrators' and teachers' direction to observe a communication blackout until the emergency is resolved. This may include students giving their devices to a teacher during the incident.

Lost & Found

Our lost and found has been in overflow for quite a while now. We had the opportunity to attempt to clear it during the meet the teacher evening but many items remained unclaimed. We no longer can support the amount of items we have and need to give it a good home, either to return to their homes or as donations to charity.

For the next  few weeks we will be displaying all of our items. As of November 1, 2019, all items left behind will be donated.

Please ensure your child/children look through it if they are missing jackets, sweaters, shoes, pants, snow boots, water bottles, lunch bags, or other gear that may have been left behind.
