Calgary Transit

Many students use Calgary Transit to get to school. Families are responsible for purchasing Calgary Transit monthly passes. Students are reminded to always have proof of fare payment to avoid a refusal of service or issuance of a summons. More information about fares and routes are available on the CBE website or the Calgary Transit website.

Calgary Transit has a “Plan a Trip” tool or families can also call 403-262-1000 for assistance with route planning and questions about Calgary Transit operations. Families do not need to register to use Calgary Transit, including school express routes.

Getting Students to School

You can register your child for yellow school bus transportation online using your MyCBE account or by completing a transportation registration form. Register every school year.

Please visit the CBE transportation website to find more information on fees and service levels for the 2022-23 school year.

Bus Status

Parents/guardians can view the bus status online:

We are aware of the communication challenges the providers are having keeping route information up-to-date for families. At this time, all service provider staff are dedicated to driving buses and they are not always able to accommodate this service.

Visit CBE Transportation  for forms and more information.

Conditional Riders

Students who are not attending the designated school for their program, or who are not within the transportation service area, may be able to access existing service if there is a suitable stop on the existing bus route. Fees will not be waived for Conditional Riders.

Criteria for conditional riders:

  • Must access an existing stop
  • Must be room on the bus
  • Must pay the transportation fee
  • No additional bus routes will be implemented to accommodate conditional riders
  • Must wait for written approval from Transportation Services before starting to ride the bus

The Conditional Rider School Bus Transportation registration form is available once the forms of all eligible riders have been processed. Conditional riders are not permitted to ride the bus until it is determined there is space on the bus and riders have been approved by Transportation Services.

Visit CBE Transportation for forms and more information.

Safety & Security

Calgary Transit provides riders with three options to report safety or security concerns. In addition to the phone number (403-262-1000) and the help buttons/phones at bus and train stations, riders can now send a text to 74100 for assistance from transit staff. For more details, please see the Calgary Transit website.

Busing

Expectations on the Bus

Student behaviour while riding the bus can positively or negatively affect the safety of all. Bus misconducts may result in loss of riding privileges. A copy of bus regulations will be available to all bus students at the beginning of the year.

The buses run on strict schedules to accommodate a second run with another school. After school, students are responsible for moving to the buses immediately. Buses depart 10 minutes after the dismissal bell. Students who miss the bus are responsible for arranging their own way home.
