Our School

Engaging and Inspiring Since 1957

Historically, the school has undergone two developments since its original structure in 1957. We boast an expansive creative playground and naturalization area which were built by our School Council and families. The school has numerous instructional spaces in use, as well as a gymnasium, and the Discovery Learning Centre / Art Space.

Over the last four years, the school has grown into a vibrant team teaching environment in which blended grade teams create collaborative learning spaces throughout the building. We have become a diverse and inclusive learning community dedicated to advancing personalized learning through rich meaningful tasks and cross curricular inquiry-based projects. We take pride in our strong literacy program and are also making a whole school commitment to intentionally focus on numeracy.

Our belief in learning through doing is supported through our Makerspace and our Arts space within the Discovery Learning Centre, while continuing to host a modernized library that encourages supported responsibility for borrowing books and self-checkout.

Central to our beliefs is that an atmosphere of respect, compassion and responsibility in a safe and caring environment promotes optimum learning.

It is nurtured the partnership with Big Brothers and Sisters In -School Mentoring as well as their Between Generations/Grandparent Program. We are most fortunate to have a strong Parent Council/ School Association which help ensure our learning environment has support in financing all technologies and in seizing all opportunities possible.

We encourage you choose to join us in this welcoming, safe learning environment!

Our School's Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

We are committed to acknowledging and supporting the implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action specific to education. In 2021, our school, along with all CBE schools made a TRC Commitment to Action. On June 21, 2022, we renewed our commitment, which can be found under Resources.

School Development Plan

Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

School Improvement Results Report

Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school. You can look on the CBE website for system-wide results.
