Kindergarten Orientation 2021-22

Dear Cambrian Heights School 2021-22 kindergarten families,

Welcome to kindergarten at Cambrian Heights School! We are really looking forward to seeing you in the fall!  Below is the welcome and information email that was sent to our families at the end of May 2021.

Please sign up for email updates on SchoolMessenger, and check your inbox and our website over the summer for more information on specific return to school scenarios based on information from Alberta Health. The information below is for Scenario 1 – In-school classes resume with near normal operations with health measures. If we do not return under Scenario 1, further information will come to you. Below is further information we would like you to be aware of:

Kindergarten Orientation

Please take the time to visit the Cambrian Heights School Website and our Kindergarten Page. You can view an updated kindergarten orientation video for 2021-22 with information on how to get ready for your first day of kindergarten.  (Updated 2021-22 Video Coming Soon!)

School and Classroom Visits

We are not able to welcome families into the building for a school visit at this time. If we are able to do so before the first day of school, we will let you know via SchoolMessenger. We hope to be able to confirm our kindergarten teacher before the summer. We’ll let you know this information as soon as we can!

2021-22 Kindergarten Calendar and Kindergarten Hours

School hours and calendar for 2021-22 will be confirmed in June.  You will receive a staggered entry schedule for the first two weeks of school. Your child will not attend every day during the staggered entry. Our current school hours are 7:58 –10:45 for AM and 11:43-2:30 for PM, with selected Fridays 7:58-11:55.

AM/PM Class Placement

We expect that we will have enough students registered for an AM and PM class in September, however, if we receive less students than expected, we would create a single AM class. We have done our best to honor your preferences for AM or PM class and are unable to make any further changes at this time.

Transportation and Before/After School Care

There is one-way bus transportation for Kindergarten: to school for the AM class and home from school for the PM class. Students can ride the bus both ways on Fridays. Families are responsible for mid-day transportation Monday-Thursday. We have Kids Come First before/after school care located within our school. This is a private rental group not associated with CBE. The Kids Come First Flyer is attached for more information. Please contact them if you are interested in more information.

Families need to pre-register for transportation by June 6. If you do not pre-register there could be up to a 6-week wait before your child can ride the bus in September.

Create MyCBE/Powerschool Account

Please take the time to create your MyCBE/Powerschool account so that you can:

  • Sign up to receive SchoolMessenger calls, texts, or emails
  • Register for the bus
  • Pay fees online or request waivers
