June 29, 2023

Dear Escuela Canyon Meadows Families,

Today, June 29 is the last day of classes for the 2022-2023 school year and we are excited for the summer break! We value the unconditional trust, care and support from Escuela Canyon Meadows families and the commitment, hard work and professionalism of our staff. Thank you so much! “¡Muchas gracias!"

We proudly say goodbye to our grade 5 students. On June 22 we gathered as a community with our grade five families to celebrate their accomplishments. We payed tribute to our talented students through a Farewell Celebration. The International Spanish Academy Spanish Advisor Sr. Miguel Hernaiz attended our Farewell, he was impressed with the performance of our grade five students. It was fantastic to spend time taking pictures with families in the beautiful Learning Meadows Garden after the celebration!

It has been an honour to see our grade 5 students grow during their first six years of schooling. We now send them off to middle school with incredible second language skills and wisdom. We are certain they will make us all proud! ¡Bravo estudiantes de quinto grado! ¡Felicitaciones!

June is also a time of the year in which we say goodbye to some staff members and welcome others.

Grade Configuration for 2022-2023

At this time, we anticipate that we will have the following grade configurations:

Kindergarten   3 classes (2 morning, 1 afternoon) – 20 students

Grade 1           4 classes – 21 / 22 students

Grade 2           3 classes – 23 / 24 students

Grade 3           3 classes – 23 / 24 students

Grade 4           3 classes – 27 / 28 students

Grade 5           3 classes – 21 / 22 students

Please note that our grade configurations are dependent on the number of students returning to ECM for Fall 2023. Therefore, grade four and grade five classes may change to four classes in grade 4 and two classes in grade 5.

Upon our return from the summer break, week of August 28, our teachers will welcome students to their homeroom classes by sending a Welcome Letter via email to parents/guardians.

Thanks to our gracious School Council for their fundraising efforts, it has allowed us to provide various enrichment learning opportunities to our students such as sports, Art and Indigenous Education, and dance residencies. We are grateful for the support of our volunteers throughout this school year, fieldtrips could have not taken place without you!

We are looking forward to the 2023-2024 school year! We wish every family a delightful summer. Note the first day of school next school year will be Thursday, August 31, 2023.

Stay informed by checking our school website, you may review the Back to School page and the 2023-2024 school calendar for detailed information.
