Students who need to leave early must bring a note to the teacher. Parents are required to sign the student out at the office. If a student is returning later on, the student signs back in at the office.

After School

Please ensure your children go home, to the babysitter’s or to day-care immediately after dismissal. Visits to other students’ homes, extracurricular activities, etc., should be arranged at home before students leave for school. Students who need urgent or emergency assistance after school should come to the office. The front doors will be unlocked.

Emergency Drills

Regular fire drills, and Emergency Lock Downs will be held throughout the year to practice student safety procedures. Some will be announced and discussed with students and staff prior to them taking place, and some will be unannounced. Should it be necessary to leave or evacuate the school, students will be escorted to Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School.

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.
