Learning Commons / Library

Today’s learners cannot imagine life without the internet and supporting technology. The concept of the traditional library is changing to include technology, online tools and spaces for collaboration and exploration.

Our school takes an inquiry-based, hands on learning approach aimed at student success. In our learning commons, we take a whole school approach to building an involved learning community. The learning commons is the learning hub of physical and virtual collaboration. Students learn through exploration, experimentation, and collaboration in this shared environment.

Students are encouraged to use our learning commons for school projects and independent reading material. Any lost or damaged books are the responsibility of the student to replace. If your child takes books home from our learning commons, encourage them to be responsible in handling them and returning them on time.

In addition to the classroom libraries, Escuela Canyon Meadows has a rich variety of fiction and non-fiction books, in both Spanish and English available to students, as well as a variety of opportunities to explore technology through Desktops, Chromebooks, and Smartboards. We hope to offer a Maker Station that will continually evolve for students to explore and create.

Resources come to students and teachers, instead of students and teachers coming to the resources!  So how do we do this?

  • Classroom book baskets will continue for K-3
  • Library book requests for 4/5
    • Library book requests, from students and staff, are submitted though the following Microsoft Form link.  Library book request form
    • Students and staff will use eLibrary to search for books, the link can be found on the ECM website.  Feel free to show students the following CBE video links to help navigate eLibrary.

                    1. Log into eLibrary and view My Account.
