A gentle reminder to families that with spring upon us the planters in the Discovery Garden are now/will be home to seeds and plants/flowers. As a community, we can respect the space by ensuring nobody is digging in the planters. Students and staff would like to thank you for your attention to the planting/growing process.
Understanding Social Media and Youth Well-Being
The Calgary Board of Education is inviting all community members to join us for an inspiring evening of learning with experts in understanding social media. Social media has been around for decades and is commonly used by all. These digital platforms allow any user to create or share content in forms of posts, photos, videos, and connection. Teenagers need support and education to develop the skills to manage their social media use. This session will explore social media use among youth and tools to help your child learn to use social media platforms in a health and responsible way.
On May 2, the CBE’s Well-Being team will host a free online session where parents will be able to join and learn from experts in the field of health promotion, ask questions and receive follow-up materials.
You are invited to join us at the virtual session from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Child and Youth Well-Being Series for Families and Caregivers
Tuesday, May 2, 2023
6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
CBE educators believe that parents and caregivers can inspire their kids to make healthy lifestyle choices and increase protective factors — in order to do so, they need the right tools and information. Since our understanding of student health and well-being is evolving, it is important for parents to stay up-to-date on the same information so everyone is supporting student success.
This is the last session offered in a five-part Child and Youth Well-Being for Families and Caregivers learning series that is offered at no-cost to all Calgary Board of Education employees, families, and community members between December, 2022 and May, 2023.
The intention of the series is to advance student well-being by raising family and caregiver’s understanding of a variety of health-related topics. You are a key partner in your child’s education and student well-being is critically linked to student achievement.
Thank you for your time and consideration to join us.

May 1 is Principal’s Day! We are so grateful for Mr. Fisher and Ms. El-Guebaly's leadership in our community. Help us celebrate by encouraging your child to give them a high five and say thanks on Monday when they spot their Principal and Assistant Principal in the hallway or out on the playground! If your child would like to make them a card or write a note, we are sure they would love that as well!
We also have a sign up available for breakfast for the staff on Friday, May 12 – Click here if you would like to bring some baking or help us coordinate the items. Thank you in advance for your help!
