Children must be taught to think not what to think

We would like to start this newsletter with a quote from Margaret Mead “Children must be taught to think not what to think.” This quote is even more important now, when information is so freely and easy to access. Students must be able to think critically about information presented.

November is here and the weather is changing every day.  Please remind your children to dress for the weather (hat, gloves, boots and a winter coat). If you feel your child has lost some clothing or a lunch kit (s), please have them check with their teacher and then the Lost and Found.

Thank you to everyone for continuing to send your child after completing the daily self-assessment and with a mask. Alberta Health has updated their guidelines on when to send your child to school. Please review the guidelines and let us know if you have any questions. Together we are stronger.

Parents thank you so much for supporting your child. With your continued support, working alongside of us to support your child, we hope to see our students reaching their goals. We strongly believe that clear, honest and open communication makes strong partnerships. Every week our teachers send an email to keep you informed of the learning that is taking place at Cecil Swanson. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the school.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Valz on the arrival of her twins!! We always love new Cecil Swanson Family members

Please welcome Ms. Anderson, who will be replacing Ms. Weatherbee while she is away.

Cecil Swanson School Council and the Cecil Swanson Parent Association provide important support to our school.  We want to congratulate the following parents on being elected to the various positions that make up our excellent School Council: R. Mansfield (Chair), M. Haymour (Vice Chair), S. Cassell (Treasurer), C. Turner (Secretary), S. McDonald (Key Communicator), All Committee members (Fundraising). If you would like to join the next School Council, please send an email to adtopp@cbe.ab.ca and I will send you a link.

The Cecil Swanson School Society has a fundraiser through Mabels Labels until Dec 31. Click the link https://mabelslabels.ca/en_CA/fundraising/support/ and choose Cecil Swanson Parents Society to get some awesome labels for your kid's personal belongings such as water bottles, mittens, hats, masks and much more.
