Volunteering at Cedarbrae School
Volunteers are a valued and integral part of our school program. Volunteers enable teachers to enhance the teaching and learning process.
Generally, volunteers provide assistance in the following ways.
- Resource Persons
Volunteers who have an area of expertise or an educational experience they are willing to share with a group of students to enhance a unit of study. - Support Service
Volunteers who directly or indirectly assist teachers by providing non-instructional services. This may be on a long-term or short-term basis. Some examples of support service activities include listening to children read, making math games, assisting teachers on field trips, working in the library, and assisting with special events and fundraising. - Participating in council meetings and business
The purpose of the School Council is to support our school; to be a liaison between home, school and community; fundraising activities; and to be a sounding board for school policies. By attending the monthly meetings you can:
Become aware of what is happening in the school.
- Have input into the way the School Council raises and uses funds.
- Get to know some of the staff at our school.
- Meet new people with a common interest – the students at school.
- Be aware of what learning and teaching looks like at our school.
