Morning Supervision

As the weather gets nicer and the sun rises earlier, we are noticing that students are arriving at school earlier and earlier. Please remember that there is no supervision in the morning until 8:30am when the doors are opened for soft entry. Parents are expected to be supervising students until they enter the school. Please do not send or drop off your children to school earlier than this. Their safety is important to us.

Kindergarten Orientation

We will be hosting our Kindergarten Orientation on June 8th in the evening. We have adjusted the timing based on feedback that the second session was too late. All new Kindergarten students and families are invited to come at 5:30pm for an information session and a brief introduction to the Kindergarten program. Emails were sent out with more information. Please call the office if you have any questions.

Grade 6 Farewell Celebration

Our Grade 6 celebration will be on June 22 at 1:30pm. All Grade 6 families are welcome to attend this farewell. This is a change in dates…please note the change. Caricature permission forms and money are due back immediately for Grade 6 students.

From the Office – Outstanding Fees

As the academic year draws to a close, we would ask parents to check your fees posted in your MyCBE account. All accounts must be cleared prior to the end of the school year. The office closes over the summer and will not be available to assist with any questions on your account. Updates on your accounts will be emailed between June 9 – 16. Any questions need to be referred to the office by June 23. Please email Mrs. Ewart is you have any questions eoewart@cbe.ab.ca

If you require a waiver application for Central fees (ie Noon Supervision and Bussing), this needs to be submitted to Student fees no later than June 30. Applications will not be considered after this date for the 2022-2023 academic year. Fee Waivers are handled by centrally by Student Fees and not by the school. We are not able to adjust fees at the school level.

Waiver considerations for school planned field trips from this year,need to be submitted by June 9 2023 to the school. Please email Mrs. Robinson agrobinson@cbe.ab.ca if you require support for any field trip fees on your account.

The CBE will start sending overdue accounts to Collections in August.

From the Library

We have a large number of overdue books out in the community. We are asking all families to please take a look around your homes for any books from the school library. Mrs. Jackson, our Library Assistant, will be sending out invoices to those students whose books have been outstandingly overdue.

All books and fees will need to be returned by June 16 as we start to do inventory for the end of the year.

Freezie Sales

We will be selling freezies for one more Friday – June 16 - to support the Grade 6 Farewell Celebration. The cost will be $2.00 each for a large freezie. Please support the Grade 6’s if you are able. Thank you to those who have already donated freezies for this event. Donations of large freezies can be dropped off at the office and are greatly appreciated. Thank you to those who have already brought some in. We are grateful for the volunteers who are coming to help.

Popcorn Day

Popcorn Day is June 15. Just added on the Healthy Hunger website!!

Our last popcorn day of the year is on June 15. All proceeds from this popcorn sale will go to support the Grade 6 Farewell Celebration. Popcorn is available for purchase on the Healthy Hunger website at www.healthyhunger.ca until June 10.

Please support the Grade 6 classes if you are able. Please note: this popcorn day was not on the healthy hunger site previously as it is a dedicated to Grade 6 sale. Please re-visit the website to order for the month of June.

This will also be our last Spirit Day of the year. The Grade 4s survey has us hosting

Outside Day

We will be encouraging outdoor learning all day long on this day!

Casino Fundraiser

It looks like all specific positions have been filled!! We are still needing people to sign-up as backup volunteers though. These people will only be called in the event that someone is not able to fulfill their planned role.

Below is a list of the shifts that still need back-up support.

If you are able to help out in the event that it is needed, please sign up at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/ACA388085. The casino dates are June 24 and 25 ... Saturday and Sunday. It is important to note that the end time is not likely to be 4:00am. They often finish early, and you are able to leave once the count is done.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has stepped up to support Chaparral School with this fundraiser. It is the biggest fundraiser that the School Council does and it so valuable to our students. We are so very appreciative.
