Principal's Message

March 1 Update

Dear CJM Families & Friends
As educators we are responsible for building positive and productive relationships with students, parents/guardians, peers and others in the school and local community to support student learning. On Friday, February 26th we were honoured to have an opportunity to work with Elder Shirley Hill in our “Circle Friday” time. Please take some time to ask your child(ren) about their experience with Elder Shirley Hill. It was a beautiful and meaningful time spent on building relationships with our learning community, nature and ourselves.
VIRTUAL Student Conferences
Hub Conferences will be centrally organized by the CBE, and they will be sending information out about this process via email to parents. Hub student conferences will occur on March 11 and 12 throughout the CBE, with messaging forthcoming. Please contact your Hub teacher if you have any questions about this.
In-person students will have their conferences on March 11 and 12 as well, details to follow in the coming weeks, but know that signup for virtual student conferences are scheduled to go live on Thursday, March 4 at 4:00 pm through PowerSchool.
For your consideration: High School Scenarios Available Feb. 23 - The CBE has developed two scenarios to balance enrolment at CBE high schools. These scenarios will be available Feb. 23, 2021 and there will be opportunities to provide feedback March 1-17, 2021. Scenario development was guided by your feedback from fall 2019, CBE values and planning principles, available space and resources and other factors. The scenarios represent a responsible approach that anticipates limited space and resources into the future and allocates resources where they will have the most positive impact for students overall. The decision will be communicated by fall 2021, and changes will be implemented for the 2022-23 school year. Share your voice and learn more at
Our next School Council meeting is on March 24, 2021; as with all School Council meetings this year, it will be held virtually, beginning at 6:00pm on Zoom.
Hope you are enjoying the improved weather and longer daylight hours, as we are here at the school.
Ms. Bains, Principal & Ms. Harder, Assistant Principal
