Student-Created Public Art Piece

Chinook Park's Grade 4 French Immersion students began the year discussing, viewing and visiting examples of public art. They also discussed the importance of play and how it positively impacts everyone. They then asked the following guiding question: "How might we unleash the power of play through public art?" This began a Design Thinking project which resulted in the production of an entirely student-created public art piece.

This innovative art piece used recycled materials and is now on display in Olympic Plaza for the International Play Association's annual conference being held in Calgary until Sept. 16. We invite you to take a stroll downtown to see our students' creation as well as pieces made by other students in the CBE.
