We follow the CBE traditional calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.​

The Calgary Board of Education continues to plan for the health measures that may be in place for the next school year. More details will be shared with families before the first day of classes.

Back to School Information

We are excited to welcome students back for the 2021-22 school year!

Dear Chinook Park Families,

We are looking forward to a new school year filled with hope and reconnection with our amazing students and families.

Guiding our school re-entry is the Alberta Government’s “Back to School Plan”:  Alberta Government: Preparing for A New School Year

The CBE is also in the process of updating back to school protocols.  Modified schools, starting in mid-August, have these safety protocols: CBE Memo to Families: August 11.   Please be aware these protocols are subject to further updates.

We ask that you please: 

  • use the daily checklist to identify if students should attend or stay home:  Alberta Health Daily Checklist
  • Staying home when sick – students and staff who present with COVID-19 symptoms must stay at home until symptoms resolve 
  • At this time, mandatory masking will remain in place for all staff and students.  

First Day of Classes

Our first day of classes is Wednesday, Sept 1, 2021 and the school office is open to parents on Aug. 30, 2021.

Our bell times are:

Grades 1-6

  • Mon – Thurs Entry Time: 8:00 AM
  • Mon – Thurs Dismissal Time: 2:35 PM
  • Friday Entry Time: 8:00 AM
  • Friday Dismissal Time: 12:01 PM

Kindergarten AM (*Alternating Fridays)

  • Mon – Thurs Entry: 8:00 AM
  • Mon – Thurs Dismissal: 10:48 AM
  • Friday Entry: 8:00 AM
  • Friday Dismissal: 12:01 PM

Kindergarten PM (*Alternating Fridays)

  • Mon – Thurs Entry: 11:47 AM
  • Mon – Thurs Dismissal: 2:35 PM
  • Friday Entry: 8:00 AM
  • Friday Dismissal: 12:01 PM

Lunch and recess hours will be staggered.  More information will be shared by classroom teachers.

Staggered Entry For Kindergarten

In September, the staggered entry at Chinook Park will occur over the first two days of school -half the class will come on Wednesday, September 1 and the other half will come on Thursday, September 2. Kindergarten AM students will come in the morning and Kindergarten PM students will come in the afternoon. Please note that there are special hours on these days.

1. Students with last name beginning A to L:

           -Wednesday, September 1

                 -8:00 – 10:48 am (for morning class students) or 11:47 – 2:35 pm (for afternoon students)

2. Students with last name beginning M to Z:

          -Thursday, September 2

                -8:00 –10:48 am (for morning class students) or 11:47– 2:35 pm (for afternoon students)

Students come on only ONE of these two staggered entry days.  Regular classes for all Kindergarten students will begin on Tuesday, September 7.  There are no classes for Kindergarten students on Friday, September 3.

Welcome to Enhanced Educational Support II Program (EES II)

We would like to welcome our students and families that will be transitioning to the EES II program at Chinook Park School.

Bell Times: Monday-Thursday (8:15am – 2:15 pm)  & Friday (8:15 – 11:15 am)                                         

Class Placement

Teachers will be contacting families via email starting Monday, August 30 to let you know about class placement and where to meet on the first day of staggered entry.  Please remember that we do not take teacher requests unless you have important information about your child that we did not have when making class lists in June.

School Supplies

We do not provide school supply lists. Supplies are provided by the school.  All students need to bring is a backpack, indoor shoes, a snack and lunch if they will be staying at school over the noon hour.

Busing Students

Bus stops will be assigned by CBE Transportation based on your primary address this year for safety purposes. Parents can only access their route and bus stop information using their PowerSchool Parent Portal.  If your child is taking the bus, please email with the bus letter and stop number.


This process is hugely successful in keeping our students safe.  Please adhere to the following: 1 way flow of traffic off 73rd Ave. for families using the alley.  (see map on sidebar)

​​Do You Have a MyCBE / PowerSchool Parent Account?

Parents who have not already done so, must create an account in MyCBE / PowerSchool to:

  • Pay fees or apply for a waiver

  • Register for transportation and lunch supervision

  • View student progress

To create a new account, go to and click on Create Parent Account. You will need to have your child(ren)’s CBE Student ID Number and use your email on file at the school.​

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at:

​​Yellow School Bus Tra​nsportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2021-22 school year are created o​ver the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE / PowerSchool account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.
