Grades 7-12 Move to At-Home Learning Starting Monday, April 19
Hello Chris Akkerman Families,Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed your break. Spring is finally here and we are all enjoying being outside in the nicer weather with no snow or ice on the ground. Remember that with our ealry start time of 7:50 am, it is still cold in the morning so please ensure your child is dressed appropriatelyAs we know, Covid-19 continues to spread and we all need to do our part to slow the spread down. One positive case in the school causes upwards of 30 other people needing to quarantine. This can be worrisome and is quite disruptive for student learning. Please make sure you are following all provincial guidelines around Alberta Restrictions and not sending your child to school if they show any covid symptoms or may have been exposed to a positive case. Please complete the daily Checklist before coming to school each day.Kindergarten parents may have noticed that the Monday/Wednesday class goes to school more Fridays than the Tuesday/Thursday class. This is correct and intentional as we have to balance out instructional minutes. The M/W class misses more instruction due to holiday Mondays throughout the year. Please follow the schedule to know which Fridays to send your child.Important Dates:April 19 - School Council @ 6 pm. There will be an opportunity for engagement around school budget and fees. The Teams link will be sent outApril 23 - Literacy Day - Dress like your Favourite CharacterApril 26 - Non-instructional DayLearn and Share | School Budget and Fees SurveyWe know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That's why we'll be sharing budget and fees information with you and asking for you to share your perspectives with us. During this online engagement, you will have the opportunity to: 1. Learn* Where funding for the CBE comes from and how it is spent* About the Resource Allocation Method (RAM) used to fund schools* How we estimate, then finalize, RAM for our school* How we establish school fees for some activities and services 2. ParticipateShare your perspectives on budget and school fees through an online survey open from April 16th to April 30th. We'll send you a link to the budget and fees information and survey when it's available. We will also post it on our school website. We will also post these survey results on the School Budget and Fees Engagement page on our school website by May 30th, 2021. Thank you for all of your continued support. We are lucky to be part of such a great community.Derek Siakaluk, PrincipalDebbie Bauman, Assistant Principal
