Hello Chris Akkerman Families!
Here we are in the last month of 2021! Hard to believe how fast the year has gone and to reflect on all of the wonderful things that have happened here at Akkerman. We continue to appreciate and value the support of our families and community. We couldn't do it without you.
Our School Development Plan and our School Improvement Results Report are now available on our website. Please take a few moments to review these documents to gain a better understanding of the goals and focus for this school year.
Fundraising - Thank you to everyone who participated in our t-shirt sale. We raised over $3,000 for our artist in residency program in April 2022. We ask that all students wear their Akkerman t-shirts on December 10.
We are looking forward to more fundraising opportunities in 2022.
Fun Lunch - We had our first fun lunch last month and will have our next one on December 13. The deadline to order fun lunch is always 5 days before the actual lunch. The deadline to order for this month is December 8. Please go ahead and order for the remainder of the year if you would like.
School Council - Thank you to everyone who came to our November meeting. We had over 25 parents! This is amazing and shows us that we are supported. We appreciate your contributions to our school community and the emphasis you put on your child's learning. Our next meeting is on Monday, January 24 @ 6:30 pm on Teams. A link will be sent out the day of the meeting.
Open House - We are busy planning the details of our Open House for January 13. More of that information will come prior to the break. Please pass this information onto your friends and neighbours when you receive it.
Garden - As winter approaches, we will take a small break from our outside garden, but will focus on the learning opportunities we have to continue to beautify our garden in the Spring. Each grade will be taking on a project, from making bird houses to creating art work to display in the Spring. Thank you to our gardening committee for their hard work and to our school council for funding this project.
Vaccination Requirement for Employees, Partners, Volunteers
With support from the Board of Trustees, the CBE will require that all employees, volunteers and CBE partners be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Dec. 17, 2021. The CBE's vaccination requirement applies to all contracted service providers, tenants in CBE buildings and all volunteers.

December 16 - Red and Green Day
December 17 - Ugly sweater day and last day of classes
