Hello Chris Akkerman Families,
March was a busy month, and April promises to be the same. Please read the information below for an update.
Evergreen Residency - we have an exciting opportunity to work with the Evergreen Residency Project from April 11-22. A form went home with all of the details and a request for an online payment. This residency is required for all students and will be a great experience for our kids. Thank you for your participation with this.
School Council - thank you to everyone who attended our last school council meeting. We truly appreciate your support. The conversation around fees and learning experiences for students will be summarized and posted on our website soon. Our next meeting will be on April 25 @ 6:30 pm.
Fundraising - our bottle drive fundraising is continuing. Please take your empty cans and bottles to the offife at the Monterey Park bottle depot and let them know the recycling is for Chris Akkerman School.
Casino - We have a casino fundraiser on July 20 and 21. Please contact our school council chair at firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer. More information will be provided to families as the date comes closer.
Class Photos - we will have class photos on April 21. We haven't been able to do these for the past two years because of the pandemic so we are excited for this. We'd ask that all students wear their formal uniforms on April 21.
Virtue of the month - the virtue for April is Hard Work. Lots of learning will take place around this virtue and we are excited to see the hard work done by our staff and students this month.
Mission Impossible - Please ask your children about the mission impossible activities taking place in PE. They are having great fun while learning about movement and gymnastics.
Professional Learning - there will be no school on April 18 for as teachers will be participating in System Professional Learning. Our teachers continue to focus their learning around literacy, numeracy and well-being.
We truly appreciate all you do for our school and community.
