During this extremely cold season, our class has been very busy learning about winter. We have been learning about temperature and snow and discovering how different each snowflake is. They are truly unique, just like each of us. In Art class, we have used many different types of textures and mediums to make snow art. In our cooking classes we have enjoyed making cold day comfort foods such as warm sandwiches and soup. We even got to sip on some hot cocoa. Yum! We are hoping that this cold weather is now behind us and we will finally get the chance to go outside to make some new weather discoveries.

Dec. 2018

Wow!  December already!  I don’t know where the Fall went, but here we are getting ready for the Holidays J  It’s been a busy year so far in our class, starting off with a Farmers Market unit, learning about fruits and vegetables and healthy food.  The students enjoyed hands on fruit and vegetable identifying/matching, fun art activities and time in the kitchen making apple crisp, egg muffins, smoothies, banana bread, tacos and pancakes!  Moving into December we started a unit on Dinosaurs.  The students are learning about the different kinds of Dinosaurs with fun visuals up around the room.  We have added some lovely artwork including a Dinosaur silhouette picture and a dinosaur picture made out of cut out shapes.  In the last couple of weeks leading up to the Holidays we will be doing some winter themed activities for art and cooking.

The students have become familiar with our daily routine and look forward to completing their calendar books every morning.  The calendar books have a calendar to fill out, identifying Today, Yesterday and Tomorrow and identifying the season, weather, temperature and what to wear.  They finish with choosing how they are feeling today!  They also enjoy each choosing a song from the Starfall website to complete the calendar routine.

We are looking forward to getting back into the swing of things after the Holidays, with a unit about Snow and Weather.  We wish everyone a safe and happy Holiday!
