Academic Guidelines

The goal of programming at Christine Meikle School is to develop functional daily living skills that students will need to transition to adult life in the community. Curriculum is modified to support the personalization of learning according to the unique strengths and needs of each student. Learner supports and accommodations may include the use of assistive technology, augmentative communication systems, work-systems and sensory activities.

Our academic programming focuses on functional academics, communication, social interaction skills, vocational and life skills and health. Our students participate in daily physical activities such as scheduled physical education classes, pool therapy and movement throughout the school and community. Student voice and choice is also emphasized at our school to help our students become as independent as they can. Students make choices through the use of personalized communication systems.
