Dear Citadel
Park School Families,
As the school year comes to a close, we take this time to reflect on
just how much each and every one of your children have learned, grown and
changed. Together as a school community we celebrate the wonderful school year
we have had together. We
truly appreciate our extremely dedicated and committed staff who make Citadel
Park School all that it is. The partnership between school, parent, and student
is so important. We would like to take this opportunity to personally thank
each and every one of our parents for allowing us the privilege of working with
your children and for your ongoing commitment and support of Citadel Park. Your
children inspire us as educators each and every day. Together we’ve learned much and
shared experiences that will long remain with us in the years to come. The memories created in elementary
school are ones that will last a lifetime!
With
the end of a school year, we already are busy making plans for the coming year.
Our bells times for morning entry have changed slightly for next year. As well,
after careful consideration and consultation with staff, we will be moving our
recess back to the morning.

With CBE
staffing occurring late in June, we have a number of farewells to announce to
our school community. Citadel Park School would like to say a very
well-deserved thank-you and best wishes to Mrs. Kazmi who will be retiring at
the end of June. Mrs. Kazmi has been with the CBE for over 25 years supporting
many of our teachers and students throughout her years. Our staff and students
would also like to thank Mrs. Joiner and Mrs. Millen for supporting our Grade 3
teachers and students, as well as Mrs. Kumar who has worked primarily in Room 13.
We wish them all well as they continue on with their work as educational
assistants within the CBE. We also would like to thank Miss Nurkowski, Miss
Wong, Miss Faber and Miss Orton for all of their hard work and dedication with
our students this year. They have all been on temporary contracts and will be
seeking new positions in the fall. We wish all of them the very best as they
continue on with their teaching careers. We wish Mrs. Schnell all the best as
she moves into a part-time position at Marion Carson School.
With mixed
emotions we say goodbye to Ms. Jackson after eleven years at Citadel Park
School. Ms. Jackson has touched so many of our students over the years as she
has greeted them with a warm smile each day and filled their hearts with the
love of music. Ms. Jackson will be beginning the next step in her teaching
career at Kenneth D. Taylor School in Evanston. Finally, we say a heartfelt
good-bye to Mr. Faunt, who after nine years at Citadel Park School will be
taking on a new Principal position at Kenneth D. Taylor School. He will be
greatly missed by all!

As in previous years,
teachers will be calling families during the last three days in August to
welcome students to their classrooms. The Kindergarten students have already
been assigned to a staggered entry group. They will be meeting their
Kindergarten teachers at the flag pole at the front of the school on their
first day (either September 3 or September 4). Grade 1 to 4 students will meet
their teachers in the field behind the school. Teachers will be holding up a sign
with their name on it to indicate their meeting place. This will provide
parents and students the opportunity to meet their new teachers together.
For our bussed students,
bus maps will be available online or at the school by Wednesday, August 28,
2019. Current bus students are asked to keep their bus passes for next year, as
these are multi-year passes. The system may charge families for replacement
cards next year.
Please
note that our school and office will be closing at 12:00 noon, Friday, June 28,
2019. The office will be re-opening at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2019.
Our office will continue
to use School Messenger to send out reminders and weekly information, however all
events and our school calendar will be posted and updated regularly on the
website.

families moving on to other adventures, we will miss you. You have made a
