A Healthy Outside Starts from the Inside
The Breakfast Program is run by SWAT (Sansom Wellness Action Team), a committee of dedicated students and staff who volunteer to provide health and wellness opportunities at Clarence Sansom. Responsible, self-directed Grade 7, 8, and 9 students are invited to be a part of this great group!
Free, Nutritious Meal
We are proud to offer a variety of free healthy breakfast options for students every morning. Our Breakfast Program is supported by the Breakfast Club of Canada, FANS, Calgary Food Bank, Cobbs Bakery, as well as by student-driven fundraising activities. Our mission is to provide students a healthy breakfast to fuel their minds and bodies.
Students who participate in the Breakfast Program will learn how to prepare and serve nutritionally balanced, delicious breakfasts, under the supervision of Sansom staff. Some examples of menu items include: pancakes, toast, crackers and cheese, smoothies, scrambled eggs, yogurt, and fresh fruit.
The Breakfast Program shift is from 7:40 – 8:15 am. Shifts will be posted monthly at the Breakfast Room, and copies are available in the office for pick-up.
The menu changes daily, but here are some of our favourites:
- cinnamon toast and fruit
- McSansom’s (breakfast sandwich) and fruit
- huevos rancheros and fruit
- bagels and cream cheese and fruit
- cereal, milk, and sliced apples
- scrambled eggs with cheese and sliced oranges
- quesadillas and sliced apples
- English muffins toasted with cream cheese and fruit
