Good afternoon Colonel Irvine School Community,
We had a great start to the month of April with our grade 6 students attending the YMCA outdoor school. By all accounts, the students had a fabulous time at the camp. So many commented on how delicious the camp food was and that they didn't want to leave the camp. We'd like to extend special thanks to our 2 parent volunteers, Ms. Dang and Ms.Situ-Hayes and our teachers, Ms. Imran, Ms. Borgeson, and Mr. Luu for attending camp with our students. Your time and commitment is very much appreciated and valued. Special thanks to Ms. Imran for organizing the trip for our students.
We will be having our grade 9 students participate in the Junior Achievement (JA) session on Thursday, April 14. The session is called Economics for Success and students will work with volunteers from the local business community to understand the advantages of staying in school and achieving their goals. We would typically try to offer Junior Achievement sessions for all grades, but JA was not able to facilitate for all grades this year. We will pursue this opportunity for all students again next year.
Our online conference booking system will be available starting next Thursday for parents to schedule appointments with teachers. All teachers will be sending messages to families regarding interviews. As always, parents can book an appointment even if there are no concerns from teachers.
Thank again for parents for our treats today. We are very thankful for the kindness and generosity of our parent community.
Thank you for your continued support.
Ms. Ko & Ms. Dalwood

Monthly Staff Appreciation Sign-Up
We would like to thank our tireless Irvine Teachers and staff by providing treats and snacks once a month -- our next treat day is Friday, April 22. If you are able to contribute individually packaged portions that is much appreciated! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0E44A5A922A5F58-2021224
THANK YOU for supporting our Purdy's Easter Fundraiser!
With another successful campaign under our belts, we'd like to extend many thanks to everyone who ordered! In fact, our orders came in a week early so we were able to distribute them to our CI families this past week. We are in the top bracket for sales, so the school will receive 25% of the order total raising just under $500! THANK YOU!
Opportunity: Alberta School Council sessions
CIPAA approved a motion at our last meeting to spend the $500 Alberta Education grant on parent education & engagement sessions, hosted by the Alberta School Council Association.
- Once approved, register for your course
- CIPAA will submit payment on your behalf
- Following your attendance at the session (take notes!), you'll be asked to share what you learned either at an upcoming meeting or sending a written summary with the next school messenger
YOU could be our next Sign Up Genius Coordinator (or 2 people could be our Events Team!)
It takes a team effort and we can't do it without you! We are looking for one or 2 people who would like to work together with us to coordinate our online Sign Ups and CISC/CIPAA events and activities. The time commitment is under 2 hrs / month to organize the monthly staff treat days, year-end staff appreciation, Gr. 9 farewell and other annual events. It's a great way to meet other parents, to learn more about what CISC/CIPAA does and what's going on at our school. No experience necessary -- we're happy to train you! We look forward to working with you! Email Kirsten (chair, firstname.lastname@example.org) and/or Berney (secretary, email@example.com) with any questions or to volunteer!
To stay informed, please join our FB group: Colonel Irvine Parent Group - Calgary. The answer is “roadrunner", and you'll need to agree to the group rules to join.
Any questions / comments / concerns? Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Stay safe and be well!

Should I Send my Child to School?
Families should complete the Alberta Health Daily Checklist prior to entering school daily. This checklist applies to all students from kindergarten to Grade 12, including high school students over 18. There is a separate checklist for adults. Both checklists are available through the link above.
If you answer Yes to any of the questions, your child must stay home. Follow the instructions on the checklist regarding when your child can return to school and if testing is required.
