Good afternoon, Colonel Irvine School Community,
We can't believe that we are now in the middle of May. We are encouraging our students to make the days count rather than to count down days until the year is over. We are hoping that all students will continue to focus and work hard to finish off the year. We'd like to mention that teachers have noticed students are doing a better job of leaving their cell phones in their lockers this past week. Thank you to parents and guardians for helping us to give reminders to our students.
We also had our second practice lockdown yesterday. Students and staff did a great job in following lockdown procedures, especially staying quiet. We will have some more practice fire drills coming up.
For our PAT's on Monday (Grade 9) and Wednesday (Grade 6), students are allowed to bring a snack and drink with them to the exam. Please pack lunches as they may not be finished before the cafeteria closes. Students will have to leave all digital devices in their lockers as per Alberta Education rules.
Just a reminder for students attending Colonel Irvine next year that you need to pick your course options. For our current grade 6's please return the forms to your homeroom teacher by Tuesday. For current grade 7's and 8's please fill in the Google form. This was sent as a separate messenger and will require the students email to access the form.
Ms. Fenwick and Mr. Haller are busy preparing students to put on the Spring Band Concert on the evening of Thursday, June 2. We look forward to seeing band parents this evening to celebrate their learning during this fantastic event. More details to come.
Have a great weekend and thank you for your continued support. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.
Ms. Ko & Ms. Dalwood
Transportation Registration Has Started
Yellow school bus registrations launched on Wednesday, May 11. You may register using your MyCBE account.
Please be aware there have been some IT errors with regular program students in Kincora and with all Mandarin Bilingual Program students. This is expected to be resolved by Monday at the latest. Please contact CBE transportation if you continue to have an issue after that.
Service levels for the 2022-23 school year will remain the same and we plan to resume charging fees at the same rates as this school year (prior to the refund).
If families are considering transportation services for the next school year, they must register by the deadline to ensure yellow school bus service for the first day of classes. There is no financial obligation for registration; families have until the fall to cancel without a fee.
The registration deadline for students to be included in route planning for the first day of school is Wednesday, June 8.

May Staff Appreciation sign-up (last one of the year):
Our final monthly staff appreciation treat day has been rescheduled to next Friday (May 20th) as we learned at the meeting last night that staff have more opportunity to enjoy the snacks on PD days. If you are able to contribute individual portions that is much appreciated!
Note: Next Friday is a PD day, so feel free to send your snacks in on Thursday the 19th.
