Good afternoon, Colonel Irvine School Community,
On Tuesday, over 100 track athletes went to the Foothills Athletic Park for the track and field meet. The team conducted themselves with great dignity and sportsmanship and we are proud of their efforts. We would like to thank all our Track and Field coaches and parent volunteers who helped at the Track meet. We are very fortunate to have a team of teachers who are also committed to coaching.
Our last parent council meeting of the year was on Tuesday. We would like to thank the new parents that showed up and thank all parents who participated in School Council meetings throughout the year. A special thanks to our School Council executive who has worked tirelessly to give parents a voice in school decisions and raise funds to support student learning. We are grateful for all parents' support.
This past week we also had our last fire drill of the year. All schools are required to practice six fire drills and two lockdowns every year, which we have now completed.
Just another reminder that this coming Tuesday, the rest of Grade 6 PATs start, and on Friday the rest of the Grade 9 PATs begin. Please see the schedule below our message.
As mentioned in our previous email, we are excited to be taking all the students swimming the week of the 20th to 24th. Permission forms have been sent home and the schedule is as follows:
Grade 9 – Monday, June 20th PM
Grade 5 and 6 – Tuesday, June 21, AM
Grade 8 – Wednesday, June 22 PM
Grade 7 – Thursday, June 23 PM
Grade 5-8 students will also be participating in field trips to Confederation Park
Grade 8 – Monday, June 20th
Grade 7 – Wednesday, June 22nd
Grade 5 and 6 – Wednesday, June 23rd
These walking trips are close enough that separate permission forms are not required, we are required to provide 24-hour notice of these trips and will send out standalone messages as these trips approach.
If your student is on an Individual Program Plan, these documents will be sent home this coming week. Please review, add comments if necessary, and sign and return as soon as possible.
