Attendance

Attendance Line: 403-777-8560 ext. 1

Remember to report absences due to illness, appointments, lateness, etc. before school starts by calling us at the number above. We ask that you leave a message, providing the student's name, teacher and reason for absence.

Phone in for Safety

Regular school attendance is essential. We understand there are times when children must miss school for appointments or due to illness. We would ask that parents phone our attendance line above if their child is going to be absent or late. The line is checked twice each day. As a courtesy, the school secretary will try to phone parents at home or at work if a child is absent and if we have not been informed of the absence.

Students needing to leave school early are to be signed out of the office by a parent. All children are expected to go directly home following dismissal. Students who are consistently late will have their parents phoned by the classroom teacher. If there is no change in attendance, a reminder letter will be sent home. Persistent absences will require an attendance plan be put into place.

Extended Absences

Families are requested to notify both the office and their children’s classroom teachers of extended absences prior to their departure. Please provide a letter indicating when your child will be away from school. If families choose to take children out of school for extended periods of time we encourage daily reading, writing and use of online resources for other academic subjects. Teachers are not expected nor required to assemble homework packages for students who have extended absences. When the children return to school, it is the responsibility of parents to ensure their children complete any missed work and assignments.
