Principal's Message - April 3

We hope students and families had a wonderful spring break as many of the students had exciting stories to share about their adventures during their week off.  The spring weather has arrived and the snow is quickly melting making our fields and area around the compound muddy. In the last week of March, students were slipping and falling on the muddy ground. Hopefully things will dry up quickly.  In the meantime, we may need to close sections of our field or naturalization space until conditions are better and have dried up.

Spring is known as a time of new beginnings and that is no exception for us at school. April is the time when we begin to look into the following 2023 – 2024 school year.  Our next year's budget is set to be released at end of this week and we will begin to forecast our organization for the 2023-2024 school year.  At this time, our school is considered a “Limited Capacity" school because of our high enrollment and availability of classroom space.  At this time, every classroom in our school is being used. Coventry Hills School boundaries are changing to include all of the Covehaven section of Coventry Hills that was shared with or previously designated to Northern Lights School.  This is a new transition and we will be expecting several new families to join us from this area.  Coventry Hills School only accepts students from within Coventry Hills Community within our designated, so if families have moved over the course of this school year and have yet to update their school demographics forms please call the office and Cindy Armstrong will send home documents to be verified and updated so that we have the most up to date information. It is always a big transition to move schools and we are sad to see our families go. Unfortunately, we do not have the physical space for out of area students and the only alternative would be to increase class sizes.

For families who have children in coming into Kindergarten or are currently registered, please take the time to fill out a short 3 question survey to help up anticipate our class sizes for next year.  Click on the following link What are you plans for the 2023-24 School Year.  We will close this survey on Thursday, April 20th. Thank you in advance for taking time to fill it out.

Make sure to read the School Council and CHEFS newsletters that were sent out on April 3.  Nadine Guard and Amber Van Dooren have added detailed information regarding the work of School Council and CHEFS.  In addition, in the CHEFS newsletter, there is a link to the Coventry Hills Casino Fundraising Event looking for volunteers on May 25 and 26th. This is a significant fundraiser that brings in approximately $60,000 to $70,000 worth of financial supports for our school.
