Principal Message April 21

Eid Mubarak! For those families in our community celebrating Eid and who have been observing Ramadan. Eid is a day of sharing and caring and we wish families who are celebrating a wonderful Eid this year.

With Springtime comes our time to continue with our safety drills.  In anticipation of warmer weather, we attempt to hold these drills on warm weather days.  Last Friday, we did experience a complication with our fire drill and our Facility Operator had difficulty turning off the alarm system in a timely manner. Due to the intensity of the bells and the length we stayed outside, we practiced a warming huddle where we ask students to make circle and “huddle" close to stay warm. We were able to enter the building after 10 minutes after the alarms were turned off.

Planning for next year.  Thank you to all families who filled out the quick survey regarding Plans for Next Year and staying or moving from Coventry Hills School. Plans for Next Year Survey Link This information is valuable as we make school organizational plans.  Currently, the CBE is projecting 626 students for our school and we are under by about 30 students. If you know of someone who has a child ready to start kindergarten, please encourage them to register if they have not. In addition, if you know your family is moving, please notify us by calling the office to let us know your new address and we can support the transition to the new school.

Alien In-line skating in happening again this year for all of our students during the month of May.  A notice was sent home Monday regarding the program as a part of our Physical Education program. Please return these forms as quickly as possible. In addition, the payment for the inline skating experience will be uploaded into student accounts soon. A message will be coming out from the office when payments can be made.

Saturday, April 23rd is Earth Day.  We acknowledged Earth day by turning off our lights for an hour of our day to help save energy.  Ask your child what special ways they developed awareness of how to protect our Earth this week.  Here are some ideas families can do at home. Family Earth Day Activities

This week was National Volunteer week.  We know just how valuable volunteers are and they are a part of our learning community.  We would like to take time to honour those who have dedicated their time to support our students in their learning. We will be sending out a separate message regarding our annual volunteer tea. We would like those who have taken the time to volunteer to save the date of Friday, May 12th from 9:30 to 10:30 as we would like to acknowledge to support that have been provided to our students.   Please register by clicking here Volunteer Tea by April 29th so we know approximately how many to plan for.   We look forward to seeing you there.

A Message from Nadine Guard – Coventry Hills School Council Chair. We are fortunate to have volunteers work in our school to support in-classroom / off-site field trips, Subway Fun Lunch & Popcorn Days, as well as numerous other activities, fundraisers and responsibilities within our school.   A SHOUT OUT TO ALL OUR COVENTRY HILLS SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS!!!

Volunteers play an important role in supporting our schools and to recognize our Coventry Hills School volunteers, we will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Tea on Friday May 12th from 9:30 - 10:30am.  If you have had the opportunity to volunteer or plan to volunteer before the end of the school year, we welcome you to join us in an opportunity for the students and staff to say "THANK YOU!!!"
