June Farewell - Principal's

Sports Day Thank You

I wanted to send a big shout out to all the parents that came to help-out and support our sports day on Monday.  Thank you to the staff who are always so creative in developing the events and creating such a fun environment. In the end, the weather turned out perfect and the kids had a blast.  Fun Times and great memories.

Medication at School

For those families who keep medication at school in the office, please plan to pick up your students' medication on or before June 29. We cannot keep student medication at school over the summer. Please contact the office via our email or call 403-777-6025 ext 0 between the hours of 9 – 2 to speak with Mrs. Armstrong or Mrs. Graumann regarding to how you will pick up the medication for your child

You can send your students' medication back to school with them on August 31, along with their completed Student Health Plan paperwork for the new 2023/24 school year.

Staffing Changes

As the year ends it is a time of transition and farewells. We will be saying goodbye to our grade 5 students on Wednesday, June 28th as we celebrate the students and their achievements with their families at our Grade 5 farewell assembly.  The grade 5 students have been working hard to prepare for their special day and to celebrate the coming to an end of their time at Coventry Hills School.   The end of the year also brings changes to our staff.  This is a year of employment opportunity for our staff with such growth in our system and the opportunity for new experiences.  I would like to personally thank all the staff who have contributed our community to help us grow and learn. We will say goodbye to the following staff members.

Mr. Hebert, Ms. Kostiuk & Mrs. Prawdzik are retiring. They have had a wonderful career with the Calgary Board of Education with a combined total of over 90 years of service. They have touched the lives and fueled the minds of thousands of students over the course of their careers. Each of them has left their mark on education and it lives in the lives of the children. I would like to thank them for the dedication to our students at Coventry Hills School and the Calgary Board of Education.

  • Mrs. Joubert will be moving to Northern Lights School
  • Mrs. Premji will be moving to Belfast School
  • Miss Brown, Miss Pacunayen, Miss Ta,  & Miss Petersen will be moving onto other positions not yet determined.
  • Mr. Brown of course, as we already shared will be leaving Calgary and moving to Vancouver Island.

In addition, we will be losing some of our lunch supervisors as they transition onto new schools or different careers paths.  We will be saying goodbye to Mrs. McIllwain, Mrs. Ringuette, Mrs. Hauser and Mrs. Kapur. They have been a wonderful addition to the school and supporting our Lunch program.

Each of these professionals have had a significant impact on the students at Coventry Hills School. We wish them all the best in their new school communities and in their next adventures.

Finally, another change to our school has been the loss of Mrs. Tracy Gale-Hansen who worked as an Educational Assistant and a Lunchroom Supervisor for many years. Late last summer, Mrs. Hansen fell ill and had a short but brave battle with cancer.  As Mrs. Hansen and her family dealt with the devastating news of her diagnosis, she passed away shortly afterwards in September.  Mrs. Hansen worked with many of the students over the years as well as being a member of our Coventry Hills Community and a parent at our school.  Many of the students have asked us about Mrs. Hansen and her family has now given us permission to share with the community at large about their loss.  Mrs. Hansen loved art, planting gardens and was a strong advocate for children with diverse needs.  Mrs. Hansen touched the lives of many in our community and she will be missed.

We will also be welcoming new staff members to our school next year:

  • Mrs. Kathleen Hamm will be joining us from Tuscany School
  • Mrs. Koostra will be joining us from Saddleridge School
  • Ms. Robyn Chaperone will be joining us from CBE Learn
  • Mrs. Jennifer Le will become a part of our Leadership team as she has accepted the position of Learning Leader in our grade one team.
  • Mrs. Julie Baker will become our new Assistant Principal

I want to wish everyone a wonderful summer holiday and we look forward to the students returning to us on Thursday, August 31, 2023

Sincerely,

Benita Dalton

Principal
