Dear Coventry Families,
We have had a wonderful start to our school year. This week is our first full week of learning and it already feels like we have been in class for a while as all the students have settled back into learning and found their groove. Ms. Baker and I have been doing classroom visits and sharing the story Because by Mo Williams. The story is about a girl who falls in love with music and becomes a musician “because" she had a chance to go to see a concert by a famous conductor. The idea of the story is that we never know when a small action will lead us toward a new passion or a learning experience just “because" we have had an experience or opportunity.
Our first School Council and CHEFS meeting is coming up this Thursday, September 14th. We sent home previous communication regarding this important meeting and we look forward to seeing parents at our in-person meeting Thursday night in our Learning Commons.
Thursday, September 21st, is our annual Terry Fox Run and we will be looking for volunteers. More information will be coming out to parents. Later that day, we will be hosting Coventry Open House Meet the Teacher and Family BBQ. See poster attached. We ask parents to attend these important meet the teacher sessions. These sessions will include important information regarding your child's year of learning and the new Alberta Curriculum. Parents can sign up for the grade group session they plan on attending by clicking on the link to Sign up for teacher presentation link. We will be hosting 3 repeat sessions for each grade starting at 4:15, 5:00 and 5:45. This will allow parents to attend session for each of their children depending on the grade(s) they are in.
Ms. Dalton and Ms. Baker are also hosting a volunteer information session in the Learning Commons during our Open House. If you are interested in volunteering during the 2023-2024 school year, please register for their session by clicking the following link Volunteering Session
School Council is hosting our family BBQ and needs parent volunteers to support this event including the set up and take down as well as cooking the food. We have attached links for the BBQ below as well as the QR code in the poster that can be scanned with your personal cell phones for the link.

Just a reminder that the Apple Fundraiser event closes tomorrow on Wednesday, September 12 and orders will be sent through. A flyer was sent home containing information the first week of school. If you are interested you can go to this link. Davidson Apple Order Form

This week we sent home our school packages containing important information about our school. In addition, School Council and CHEFS sent home information including their first newsletters. Additional newsletters from our School Council and CHEFS will be sent out electronically and uploaded to our school website. Please return all blue forms to the school as soon as possible. In addition, families who lasts name starts with A to M have received communication regarding the updating of student demographic forms, media releases, etc. Please fill out the forms as soon as possible according to the deadlines provided.
