Dear Coventry Hills Families;
Reminder to complete the parent view point that was sent out by classroom teachers. Thursday, September 24 and Friday September 25 is Parent-Teacher Conferences. Teachers will be calling from a “Blocked” number or a 777 number, answer it during your scheduled conference time. Teachers will attempt to get ahold of each family two times during the scheduled 15 minutes. Be prepared to receive their call. They look forward to talking with you and learning more about your child.
Recently, I am visiting classrooms to spend some time with the students. My hope is that in the next few weeks I will be in every classroom as least once. During my visits, I have shared the story, The Knowing Book and we discussed some of the ideas from the book. Some of the themes the students pick up on are insightful about life at school. Even though things are different some things remain the same. What remains the same is the following:
“School is a place where we make new friends.” Grade 1 student
“School is a place where we learn.” Grade 4 student and Grade 2 student
“School is a place where we care about one another.” Grade 3 student
“School is a place where we are kind.” Grade 2 student.
Daily Health Screening is required for school attendance. If you have answered YES to any of the questions, “students are not allowed to attend school. Please follow up with Health link at 811 or connect with your family doctor. In the school packages, we have asked all families to complete the COVID section to establish base lines for common health issues such as allergies, asthma etc that also are symptoms of COVID-19. It is imperative that students stay home when ill and the school is notified. Teachers are beginning to create their google classrooms that support students who are home due to symptoms over a longer period of time. Information regarding our Google classrooms will be sent out by teachers shortly.
Well, we have had a whirl wind of a school start up. Thank you for all your continued support of working alongside us as we have made changes over the last couple of week. My hope is that things will now settle. Starting this week, we will have some new staff joining the Coventry Hills School team. I would like to introduce Mrs. Stacey Hinks and Mrs. Nusrat Premji. Mrs. Hinks will be joining our grade 2 team as Miss Woo will transition to part time and join the grade 1 team. Mrs. Premji will be joining our Kindergarten team and teaching in the afternoon. The students did an amazing job of settling into the changes this past week.
