Wednesday Principal Update - September 14

Dear DGS Families,

One thing I always enjoy doing is sharing resources and articles that I think may be of interest to parents of adolescents. The BBC has a great recurring column called “Family Tree.” Recently, they published a very timely, useful article about the adolescent brain- have a read- I think you’ll recognize many features of our Cranston and Seton kiddos here!

Social Media:

Parents, thank you so much for being so responsive regarding checking in with your students around how they are engaging with social media. This is always an important conversation to have with our students by and large because of the developmental stage they are at.

All athletics schedules should now be updated and can be located on the DGS website.

Meet the Teacher:

We are looking forward to hosting our first school community event tomorrow night- please see the attached flyer for more information. We can’t wait to connect with you.

Lunch at DGS:

As a reminder, we do not accept any Skip the Dishes or Door Dash deliveries for students. We are not equipped to receive these deliveries. We ask that families prepare students with their lunches. We do have emergency food available in the office available for students should it be required. The School Servery is now open for snack purchases and Healthy Hunger Menus will be available for placing orders by September 16, and our first delivery day will be September 26.

Volunteers Needed:

Mr. Bhandari and Ms. Viola are looking for volunteers to support program prep in the woodshop and the Foods Lab. If you are interested in either of these areas, please reach out to Sanjay Bhandari at

All volunteers need current forms completed and Police Information Checks, which we are happy to help with in the main office. Please complete the attached Annual Volunteer Registration Form and read the attached information on Police Clearances.

Student Health Updates:

It is important for the school to have the most up-to-date information regarding any of our students with medical conditions, taking medications, allergies, etc. Please review the attachments, if this is applicable to your student, please complete the forms and return to the school, via email or dropped off at the main office. Thank you for helping us keep the students safe and healthy.
