Our Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are always welcome and appreciated at Dr. George Stanley School. The use of volunteers is strictly up to staff members who will determine the needs and make every attempt to provide opportunity to those who express interest. Co-ordination of volunteers can be supported through the office with our messenger software.
When Do We Typically Need Volunteers?
Field Experiences are the most common request for volunteers at a middle school level. On the top of each Acknowledgement of Risk there should be a form with a school bus. On that form there is a section requesting volunteers if they are needed. Teachers will take the information provided and contact all volunteers by phone to advise them if they are required for the trip. If you are not available please ensure you have voice mail established for teachers to leave you a message.
What Happens If There Aren’t Enough Volunteers?
When a class does not receive enough volunteers the school office can send out a message to parents requesting additional support. The message will first go out to the grade or class needing the support; if the results are still insufficient the message will be relayed to the whole school to seek supports. At NO time will a trip be cancelled due to lack of volunteers.
What Do I Need To Do If I Volunteered to Help Organize a Trip?
Please ensure you are coordinating your trips through our office and - if you require help in securing volunteers - send our administrative assistant an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. We require the destination, time of departure and arrival back at the school and how many volunteers you require. Do not leave this too late as if we do not secure the adequate number of volunteers, staff members will need enough time in order to prepare physically (dress), emotionally (mental acuity to understand the learning outcomes) and academically (if they have classes to rearrange).
