Respect for Furniture/Space

The Learning Commons and Foyer have unique pieces of furniture that can be easily damaged by sharp objects like pencils or pens. Students should ensure that they do not have these items in their pockets before sitting on them.

There are a number of rolling chairs, tables and stools in the building. They are to be used properly and not for “joy riding”.

In the downstairs hallways there are cool-looking lights that hang low and look like they have handles on the ends. Students must resist the urge to jump up and hit them or hang from them.

Our school has an exposed ceiling. Students must not throw objects upwards in hopes of “landing it” up there.

At present there are many unused classrooms that will usually be kept locked. Students are not permitted in these spaces unless supervised by a DMC staff member.

Small, round tables in the classrooms are for “light-duty” work. They need to be treated gently and cannot be leaned on or sat upon.

Our school is bright and beautiful and all of the windows help the light to travel around the building. Students are to keep their fingers, faces and tongues (yes, tongues…) off of the glass.

The stairwells have metal railings that are for holding with hands; they are not for sliding down.

Students should not throw objects over the balcony railings.

Lights - Students are not to “play” with the light controls.

Thermostat - Students are not to touch the thermostat.

Phones - School phones are not for student use. There is a phone in the office that students can request to use if they need to make a call.
