Dressed to Learn
Students must come to school appropriately dressed to promote a positive learning environment. You can support your child by:
- Dressing them appropriately for the learning tasks. Clothing such as halter-type tops, muscle type T-shirts, revealing midriffs, short shorts, and clothing with inappropriate logos are not to be worn to school. Clothing designs should be respectable and appropriate for younger children.
- Be prepared to spend some time outside during the day, particularly for Physical Education.
- Being dressed for various weather conditions; field trips and recess often requires extra layers, snow pants, warm coats, mitts, head wear or rain gear.
Indoor / Outdoor Shoes
In order to keep the school clean and safe, we ask that all children keep a pair of running shoes at school for indoor use only. These shoes should have non-marking soles. If students are unable to tie their own shoes they should have shoes with easy fastener like velcro straps. All students are expected to remove their outdoor shoes or boots when entering the school.
We advise labeling your child's belongings to aid in return of misplaced items. Labels can be applied to clothing, such as sweaters, jackets, shoes, boots, hats, mittens and gloves, as well as food containers, backpacks, lunch kits and book bags.
Items are placed in a lost and found and can be viewed when you come for special events and interviews. Uncollected items are packed up and delivered to a charity several times throughout the year.
