I'd like to thank all the staff, students and parents for a wonderful few weeks at Elboya. In particular, I'd like to thank Ms. Scholz, Mrs. McComish and Mrs. Kryczka in the office for their amazing support. They have taken very good care of me! Your school community is positive, vibrant, caring and friendly. I am confident that Mme Avdicos will have a great experiences at Elboya when she takes over leadership of the school on Monday. I wish her, and all of you the very best for the rest of the school year and beyond.
Rob Keith – Acting Principal
Ms. Sawchuk has embarked on a special event to promote literacy: 'Elboya Reads'
As David Bouchard says, “It takes just one book to get children reading." We have asked all staff at Elboya to choose a favorite school age book– that they will promote for the spring. We will divide Elboya into divisions: K-3, 4-6, 7-9. We have asked staff to create a short recommendation about their book (English or French). Mme Lewis will have our local year book students come around and take a photo of the staff member and their favorite book. We will print these out and place the photos in the front school display case along with the recommendation. Have students listen to the morning announcements to hear the recommendation of the day!
Badminton
-please note that students will be welcomed into the school 5 minutes before practice in the mornings
-we appreciate parents picking up students on time at the end of practices
The lockdown drill that was scheduled for last Tuesday had to be postponed as Calgary Police Services could not spare enough constables to assist us. The drill will be re-scheduled. We completed a very successful, orderly Fire Drill today; there are two more of these required before the end of the school year.
There is no school on Friday April 15th; Monday April 18th is a professional day for teachers – no school for students (There are 52 Instructional Days remaining in the school year!)
The next School Council Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday April 26th at 7:30pm
Thank you
On behalf of the staff and students, I would like to thank Mr. Keith for his leadership over the past six weeks. We were fortunate to have Mr. Keith share his experience with us. In a short time, Mr. Keith learned how to play 9-square, scored the only staff goal in the student/staff hockey game, and walked thousands of steps outside with the students over the lunch hours. We wish him all the best on his sailing endeavors that await!
