Wrapping Up 2022-23!

It is so hard to believe that we are fast approaching the end of the 2022/2023 school year. It has been a year filled with amazing learning, laughter, and smiles. I want to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff at Follensbee as your professionalism, knowledge, support, and commitment to learning has been tremendous and has ensured that all students thrive and engage in meaningful learning opportunities each day at school. I also want to take this opportunity to personally thank all the parents and guardians who have supported us, and their children during this year. In addition, a big shout out to all members and attendees of the EFS School Council and the EFS Children’s Society meetings. We are so appreciative of the support and dedication!

June was an incredible month as we saw great learning opportunities happen within the school and off campus with an array of field trips taking place. Along with amazing learning activities we saw staff, families and students take part in several fundraisers. Fundraisers saw us support the Make-A-Wish Foundation, bringing in $973.00 from our amazing Lemonade Stand. Staff, students, and families also supported Casa Connor which is a legacy created by family and friends of Connor Vanderveen who attended Emily Follensbee. Thank you to everyone for supporting these amazing fundraisers.

June also saw us celebrate each of our incredibly special graduates during an afternoon ceremony. Each one of our graduates holds such a special place in our hearts and we are sad for you to go but excited for all the new possibilities that await you. All 10 of this year's graduates will be attending Christine Meikle School and we know each of you will delight in the opportunity to make new friends, connect with past graduates, and engage in new learning. We also welcomed new students and families to the Follensbee community during intake meetings this month. We are so excited to welcome each of you to EFS and know that next year is going to be amazing.

To all the staff, students, and parents/guardians my wish is that you have a wonderful well deserved summer break. My hope is that each of you has time to relax, rejuvenate, laugh, and have lots of opportunity to connect with friends and family over the break. Take care and we look forward to seeing all students on August 15 for the first day of school.

Enjoy your summer holiday,

Jennifer Hart, Principal
